Central Inbox
The central inbox is the group-level equivalent of a practice’s Referral Inbox. Instead of showing inbound submissions for a single practice, it shows everything arriving at any of your member practices — with the ability to route items to a specific one.
Tabs
- All — every submission across every member practice
- Undistributed — submissions that haven’t been routed to a specific practice yet
- Distributed — submissions already routed
When you’d use each tab
- Undistributed is where you do most of your work — deciding which practice takes a given referral.
- Distributed is for audit and oversight — seeing what went where and when.
- All is useful for searching across the full volume.
Routing a submission
Click an undistributed row and pick Distribute. A dialog asks which member practice should take it. After you confirm:
- The submission leaves the central inbox’s Undistributed tab
- It appears in the chosen practice’s normal Referral Inbox as Needs Review
- That practice’s team handles it exactly like any other inbound submission
You can also create a new referral directly from this page with the New Referral button — useful when you want to assign a referral to a specific practice without waiting for a PDF to arrive.
Why submissions land in the central inbox
Any referral address belonging to the group (rather than a specific practice) drops submissions here. If your group has a single intake line — “send all referrals to referrals@ourhealthsystem.com” — those all arrive centrally so you can route by specialty, availability, or patient geography.
Practices that have their own referral addresses keep their individual inboxes too.
