Upload a PDF
The fastest way to get a referral into Canairy is to upload the PDF. Canairy extracts the patient, provider, and clinical details automatically and hands you a draft to review.
From the dashboard or inbox
- Drag and drop — drag the PDF anywhere on the dashboard or inbox page and drop it.
- Click Upload PDF — on the dashboard, opens the same upload dialog in the inbox.
Either way, the file is uploaded, queued for extraction, and appears in your Referral Inbox → Needs Review in about a minute.
From a secure upload link
Sometimes a partner practice (or a referral source that isn’t on Canairy yet) needs to send you a PDF without signing in. You can generate a secure upload link for them — a one-time URL like canairy.health/upload/<token>.
They open the link, drop the PDF, and it lands in your inbox just like any other submission. No account required.
Ask your admin (or an existing teammate) to generate a secure upload link if you need one.
What files work best
- PDF only — image formats (JPG, PNG, TIFF) should be converted to PDF first.
- Text-based PDFs — extraction is far more accurate if the PDF has real text, not just a scanned image. Most fax-to-PDF tools produce image-only PDFs — these still work but extraction can miss details.
- Under 25MB — large multi-attachment bundles can hit limits. Split into smaller pieces if needed.
If extraction can’t read a PDF at all, try Manual Entry instead.
